Camp Director

Chris Wiley (he/they)
Chris is uniquely suited in his role. He is a 20 year professional actor, teacher, and entertainer; an amateur father, gamer, and nerd; and an eternal kid-at-heart. He has worked with educational LARPS for 15 years and is proud to have been part of the founding of The Story School in 2013 all the way through developing Camp FABLE and Camp Grimoire this year.
Chris believes in the power of stories and roleplay to "level up" campers into heroes through autonomy, progress, and belonging. Chris is particularly proud of the inclusionary steps The Story School has taken to be a home for neurodiverse and queer youth.
His skill at physical storytelling, love of learning, innate connection to children and terrible habit of telling dad jokes (they are quite aPARENT once you get to know him) make him the perfect fit to oversee the programs of The Story School.

Laura Hall (she/her)
Laura is thrilled to be returning for her fifth summer with The Story School on the Director team. She has devoted herself to extra-curricular education and has a bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University with an emphasis in Outdoor Recreation and Youth Studies.
She loves sports, theater, and music, which blends seamlessly into her passion for professional wrestling. Laura is most looking forward to meeting all the first-time staff & campers and introducing them to the world of immersive storytelling.

Isaac (he/him)
Assistant Camp Director
Hello! My name is Isaac Grey Richman, and I've been working with The Story School off and on since my Sophomore year of undergraduate, which was about 6 years ago!
I have been playing D&D since I was 12, playing board games since I could read, and am currently getting a Masters degree in high school education!
I can't wait to work with our excellent councilors to support them in providing the best camp experiance we can for your child!

Jarred (he/him)
Program Director / Game Master
Jarred has worked with the Story School for over a decade as of this summer! He is excited to reprise his role as the lead Logistics Director and to work with his team to write and direct the stories for the heroes this summer. Outside of camp, Jarred is a full time teacher of social studies for high school students, teaching Economics, Psychology and Anthropology, putting his degree in education to good use.

Outside of his professional life, Jarred is, like many at the Story School, a huge nerd. He enjoys video and board games where he can test strategy, and reading mysteries and fantasy novels like Percy Jackson. In addition, he is an avid D&D player and is just about to finish up a 5 year long campaign of a game with friends. Similarly, he runs his school's D&D club to give kids the chance to play and express themselves.

Nurse Daine (they/them)
Camp Nurse
Diane has been the glorious healer of Nature's Classroom since 2015 and has benevolently decided to grace The Story School with their wisdom and skill for a second season.
They like snakes and snake based mythos, disdain chickadees, desire to learn the ways of the blade, and are always in it for the bit.

Janet (she/her)
Assistant Program Director
Janet is thrilled to be returning as Assistant Programming Director! 2026 will be her fourth season with The Story School, taking the summer off from her usual RPG playing, music making, and storytelling of all forms. At camp, you can usually find her from the sound of her dulcimer or wherever she has gotten the kids singing as they march into battle!

Sara (she/her)
Counselor-in-Training Coordinator
Looking forward to building stories, spaces, and experiences for everyone. Also I have too many exclamation points. I've sent two kids to Story School Camp, one of whom y'all are still stuck with as a JC (Erin.) I've been playing games all my life, and TTRPGs remain the love of my life. I like LARPing, but I discovered I like running or NPCing in LARPS even more. I do lots of handcrafts - crochet/knit/needlepoint but not terribly well. :) I'm always up for trying to figure out how to make things, and I'm really good at making mistakes (and then learning from them. I hope.) I also try to encourage other people to try things that are hard enough that they can/will make mistakes too, because that's a great way to learn.

Anders (he/him)
Volunteer Coordinator
Anders has years of actual play experience in podcasts and live streams, so he is excited to bring back his skills to help inspire others at camp this Summer. He's looking forward to seeing lots of growth from everyone since last he saw them.

Sam (she/her)
Lead Counselor
Living and growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sam began volunteering in kindergarten classrooms in 2013 and has since worked in a variety of both volunteer and paid childcare positions. In 2020 she joined The Story School as a counselor for its virtual camp season and from there moved on to be a year-round virtual instructor in 2021 and then a residential counselor from 2022-2025.
When not working or volunteering, Sam enjoys photography, playing board games, and learning new crafts.
Sam is excited to see all of the new and returning heroes, and to be a part of the stories they create in the 2026 season, both in and out of character.

Joseph (he/any)
Curriculum Coordinator
Joseph is a long-time member of the Story School, and excited to be teaching STEAM this summer. A recent graduate in Early Childhood Ed, he believes that having fun and activity are the most important parts of learning: children should be learning, not being taught. This summer, he hopes to take our usual high-quality educational content and make it more fun and engaging, using the tricks he's learned as a teacher and a lifelong dungeon master.

Virginia (they/she/any)
CiT Counselor
Virginia was born and raised in Juneau, Alaska (Lingít Aaní ). They are very excited to be returning this summer and working with the CiTs. They are currently still in Juneau, and are a Para-Educator at one of the elementary schools. Virginia has been doing theatre in some way shape or form since they were twelve, and can usually be found behind the scenes at Perseverance Theatre. When they aren't hidden away in a theatre, they can usually be found helping at the local Drag Shows. And if not there you can find them writing, reading, or crocheting.

Oliver (he/him)
Program Assistant
Hello there, The name is Oliver, and I've been attending and been apart of this camp for 11 years now! I love fantasy novels, designing games and writing stories. I am a nerd at heart

Braeden (he/him)
Curriculum Counselor
I am a Physics and Mathematics grad and aspiring PhD applicant. I have a passion for math and physics education; one of my favorite things is to be a part of the joy that people feel when they learn new things. My many hobbies include reading, video games, board games, hiking, and camping, with a current hyper fixation in Minecraft.

Kaja (she/any)
Curriculum Counselor
Kaja (pronounced Kaya) is a second year counselor and first year curriculum counselor at the Story School and can’t wait to return to their adventure! She’s had a life long interest in storytelling through art, theatre, and creative writing which is what led them here. They’re currently pursuing a double major in Production Design and Art & Design, with dreams to one day work in film or theatre. In her free time she can be found in a ceramics studio, or on a student film set gaff-taping sets together.

MaryKate (she/her)
Curriculum Counselor
MaryKate is a Social Work graduate of Salem State University and lives North of Boston, just down the street from a neighborhood beach. As MaryKate has learned from working in various overnight and day camps since 2018, every camp experience is a different adventure and she has high expectations of an unusually intriguing summer with The Story School and her fellow counselors. In her free time, MaryKate likes to read, listen to her favorite musicals (Wicked, Six and Hamilton, to name a few), hangout with Phoebe the cat, and bake bread from scratch for her friends and family.

Shan (they/he)
Curriculum Counselor
Shan is a recent graduate of Mount Holyoke College with a degree in Biological Sciences and Psychology and is a lifelong lover of STEM and fantasy. Currently working as an EMT, he is so excited to dive into the world of Story School as a counselor! As a LARPer since 2023, they cannot wait to share the joy of roleplaying with all of the campers. He is currently spending his free time working on applying to Physician Assistant programs or crocheting while listening to The Stormlight Archive.

Rohan (he/him)
Counselor
Rohan (pronounced Rowan) is an avid musician, artist, writer, educator, and lover of fun. He's worked as a musician and contracted math and science tutor for multiple years. As a mentor and friend, he is always looking for ways to provide insightful and meaningful guidance to anyone who needs it.

Riley (they/them)
Counselor
Riley is a recent graduate of UMass Lowell, having studied creative writing. They have been doing LARP for over fifteen years, most of which through the Story School, which inspired their love of reading, writing, and art. They are excited to be returning to the Story School to work as a counselor after so many amazing years as a camper. When not at camp, Riley is running table top games, reading, drawing, or writing. Probably writing. They're sort of always writing.

Laine (she/her)
Counselor
Hello! I'm very excited to join TSS this summer as a counselor. I love art, theater, and music. My favorite mythological beast is either the Flying Spaghetti Monster or Mothman.

Squirrel (any)
Counselor
Squirrel is a first-time counselor at The Story School, but a long-time DM, storyteller, and playing-outside-enjoyer. On their adventures, they've learned that things don't always go exactly according to plan (sometimes you start with a dungeon crawl and end up making pizza!), but life is often more fun that way anyway. They're excited to face fears, solve puzzles, and perhaps do a silly dance or two this summer. Outside of camp, Squirrel is a comic artist, skateboarder, childrens' DM, writer, and pretty-good cook depending on the day, and a silly goose 24/7.

Livy (she/her)
Counselor
First time counselor with The Story School

Mars (they/she/any)
Counselor
I was raised, as my mother called it, as a "hippie feral child". I aim to help other people find the cool stuff to be feral and weird about.

Roy (he/him)
Junior Counselor
I have been attending camp for 12 years, and it is my second home. I love everything about it, and welcome any newcomers to this fantastic little world

Erin (they/them)
Junior Counselor
Hi. Erin is thrilled to be returning for the second year working for the story school . They are a current college student, and love encouraging campers explore the vibrant world of Bookend they fell in love with when they were a camper.

Andy (he/him)
Junior Counselor
Andy is a second year Junior Counselor at the Story School. He lives in Los Angeles and is a current Forestry undergrad at Santa Monica College. Andy spends his off-season playing a Fool/Jester at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire, hiking and performing as often as possible. He currently works as a counselor at an after school program in Santa Monica where he shares his love of fantasy, theatre and music with his students. He hopes to nerd out to the fullest this summer as a Hero Leader with all of the campers!

Verena (she/her)
Junior Counselor
Hi, I'm Verena. I love games, D&D, fantasy, and crafting. Will talk both your ears off if given the chance to talk about my favorite series.

Ezra (she/her)
Junior Counselor
After playing my first session of Dungeons & Dragons, I found my love for all things nerdy, storytelling, and creative. I’m an artist, writer, and beginner embroiderer, and I love picking up more creative hobbies, as well as sharing that love with others. Even though I haven’t gone to Camp Fable or Grim for too long, I’m so excited to give back to this wonderful community!
